Songs have a life of their own. They bloom and bear fruit on a schedule of its own distinct rhythm. For "Nobody but You" the melody came a decade ago during a furtive time writing and touring for the Home:word album, but the meaning of the song was still a mystery then. It was only after being married in 2017 that the lyrics and concept started to materialize. Having producer Chucky Kim to collaborate with was also synchronized timing. He has been on a tear, creating an evocative and layered R&B/Hip-Hop/Jazz discography with Hollis, Wolftyla, Maya Hatch, Ann One, Cynthia Lin, and our recent "Prevail." All this and more aligned to create this anniversary present for my wife Sarah. Love: it's a mighty, unpredictable and beautiful thing. The song: a dancing meditation on the forging of union and unconditional love. The track also features a masterful guitar solo by Go Yama.
